Lite brite

Oliver's wearing some new glow-in-the-dark space jammies. He came out to show his dad and said they're so bright, he's not sure he can sleep in them. So he's going to hide them under the covers.

There's a first for everything

 Yesterday, I got Oliver from daycare early and took him "school shopping."  Of course, he's in "school" year round, but that's what it felt like.  In fact, I was using a really good coupon to get some fall/winter clothes for him, since he doesn't yet have any in his current size.  I figured I could get a few things now, wait until the weather really turns, and hope some stuff had gone on sale further.  This was the first time I'd ever taken Oliver to try on clothes.  His coming was more an issue of size (he's not quite 4 wearing a 5/6, so I wanted to make sure there was room to grow without the clothes drooping on him) than him getting input on his clothes.  He has much bolder taste than we'd necessarily encourage (next summer -- less in neon colors!), and we are still working on what it means for things to go together rather than matching small specks of colors from the tops and bottoms.  Anyhow, I was reminded that this was a first when Ollie was getting undressed in the fitting room.  Fortunately he paused before asking "Undies, too?", at which point I reassured him that he didn't have to get completely undressed.

After a trip to the mall and the grocery store, we went to pick up Emmeline, who also had a first yesterday.  I guess one of her teachers was doing another girl's hair this morning, and Emme wanted a ponytail, too.  And so she got one.  She sported it happily until bath time.

Wes and I both tried to talk him out
of the black socks and shoes, but
at the end of the day (or actually the
beginning), I don't think it's worth
fighting over.
