Oliver is absolutely enchanted with our vacuum. It helps that it's a canister vac and not an upright. He can get his hands around the vacuum easily, and it rolls back and forth nicely. What makes me laugh so much, though, is how he vacuums. He doesn't just stand there and push it a little -- he hunches over like I do to get under the couch and such. It'll still be a bit before I can hand off this household chore to him, but it's nice to see him taking so much initiative.

Aside

Did I mention that Ollie is fascinated by the vacuum? He can be completely fussy, and if I pull it out, he is watching it intently the entire duration I'm vacuuming (which, despite our small apartment, can be awhile). The Swiffer will also do, but the vacuum is really exciting. It's like footage of people watching a tennis match with their heads going back and forth -- he watches its every move. I have only once tried to vacuum with him lose on the floor. It was something of a challenge.

Ollie's first vac job

Another plus of the sling -- I can put away dishes, clean the counters, fold laundry, and vaccum all while soothing a fussy baby. Thank goodness he likes to vac!
