I Love My Mobile

This one's got it all -- squirming, vocalizing, and smiling. He seriously loves this thing every time we put him under it.

Books from Grandpa

Oliver got his first Christmas present this year from his Grandpa John, Wes's father. He sent four different children's books, all featuring an Oliver as the protagonist. Isn't that the cutest idea ever? So far we've read Oliver Who Would Not Sleep, which is my favorite (since Ollie still won't nap much, despite being a solid night sleeper), Oliver Finds His Way, and Oliver's Must-Do List. I browsed Oliver's High Five, which is a cute if somewhat absurd story about an octopus with only five arms who faces workplace discrimination for his handicap. I haven't read to the end, so I don't know how it all turns out.

Thanks, Grandpa John!

Let it snow

We have a few inches of snow on the ground here thanks to a snowstorm that came through yesterday afternoon and evening, and we're expecting either 6-8 inches of snow or a half inch of ice tomorrow night. Oliver may not get to play in it yet, but that doesn't mean he doesn't need a good snowsuit. We do cover him over again with a blanket, but this thing is pretty darn warm and even keeps his hands warm -- a plus since he won't leave mittens on or keep a blanket over them when we have to take him out.

With mom

Terrible Tummy Time

You might want to turn the volume down a touch for this one.

Squirming

My sister asked for some video clips of Oliver. Here he is in action.

He naps.

Ollie's Journal, Weeks 9-12

Things I did (so much!):
1. Took my first big trip. I was so good on the plane and didn't fuss at all.
2. Had my first babysitter (and my second, the lady who is keeping me when mom and dad are both at work.)
3. Visited with Grandma N. while mom returned to work. She was sad to be away but happy for the adult conversation -- at work and with Grandma. (Evidently my increasing cooing, while adorable, is not enough to sufficiently engage her brain each day.)
4. Went to some work functions for mom and dad. Mom found that holding me during parent-teacher conferences really cut some of the tension out of the equation!
5. Fought the sniffles. If only I knew how to blow my nose already.

Right now:
Sleeping in the stroller after a brief outing with the dog. I don't nap real great, so mom just lets me sleep whenever she can get me down!
